John and Simon are seniors and off and on friends for ten years. After a huge fight on the school bus this morning they were sworn enemies and sent to the office and could be facing suspension.
As their third period drama gay student teacher no one tells me anything. I send them both down to the green room to bring up two boxes of books and go look for them ten minutes later.
They are in a costume changing room I snag two pairs of cargo pants and one pair of underwear. Before they can scream Hey who's out there. They finally unlatch the door and crack it enough to see it was me. They let the door swing open exposing Simon as naked as a jay bird and John in his underwear both with arousal issues. I took a picture before they could say Can we get our pants back please?
Then we get to the heart of the story. John's dad is a minister and cannot find out he's gay. His and Simon's gay relationship issues is going to out them both. Which is what the fight on the bus this morning is all about. They were supposed to hook up last night but the minister made impossible. John thinks he suspects he might be gay, and was counting on his dad's help for college. As a student teacher I don't get paid for this crap but as a gay man with a religious family I was compelled to get involved. I told them to finish having sex and get back to class.
The next dad my father and I pay a visit the the church where John's dad is the minster. My father asks if they perform gay weddings and they said no. Then he asked if he could rent the building for a Saturday wedding of two gay men his son and my partner. he would be willing to pay 5k for six hours. The following day he discussed it with the congregation. making it clear the church could use the money. He ask people to let their feels be known to the church directors. Everyone came back in support of renting out the building.
Monday the boys tell me what happen on Sunday and seem to think it was a huge change for his dad and the church. I sent them to the counselors office to talk about applying for student loans for college, and going to the local college to save a ton of money. The principal wants to know why sworn enemies are together in the same room. They finally come out of the closet begging him not to tell their parents. He agrees providing they stay out of trouble.
I write a one act play called Sworn Enemies and sell tickets at 10 bucks a peice for a upcoming Saturday at the Church that holds 600 plus people. The play is about two gays guys growing up and falling in forbidden love. Love wins in the end and two two get married and live happily ever after. Twenty students in the drama club have parts. John and Simon cast to play the lead. The a conversation with the boys and my father.
We can present the play as written or have a real minister really marry you two and after Saturday you guys will be husbands, and your parents can change that. They go for the real wedding, and decide to getting married.
The father and his wife were at the church and we prepared for a wedding. Then the grooms show up and meet with both their parents come out of the closet and ask them to come to their wedding. The minister watched from his office while his wife choose to sit in the front row. Ticket sales paid for the church and gave the boys enough money to rent an apartment and they picked up their diplomas as sworn husbands.
