Daddy Daddy - Story Time Blog

My dad is the skinny blond guy Jeff who is talking to Carl's dad gay dad Greg for the third day in a row. My dad has been looking for a new mom for me and my little sister. Not sure why his is getting tips from the gay guy. I snap this pic from my new cell phone. Having no idea I would be obsess with it for the next five years.

My name is Leo and I am writing this story from my view as a almost twelve year old. I was learning about grown up things that didn't make since for my age. Growing up with a single dad razing two kids we were all learn as we go.

In the last three days dad has changed the way he does our laundry. He now makes us a hot breakfast instead of Cereal, and he talked grandma into helping him on weekends, while he is at work. Turns out I am not old enough to watch my little sister until I am twelve.

Five days later and my dad has Greg on speed dial, and they are talking every night on the phone. Friday a play date at Carl's house. We get there and their house is on a half acer with a swimming pool bigger the our whole apartment.

Dinner goes great and my dad and little sister are following Greg around as he gives a tour of the house. There is four bedrooms and an tiny room for a crib or office. Carl and I stop for a chat in his bedroom.

Carl - So, what are the chance your dad does gay stuff.

Me - He is pretty desperate to hook up, but he wants to find a mom for me. He is impressed with your dad and how he handles being a single parent.

Carl - My dad is too, and he is looking for a guy that does the mom's chores. If your dad does gay stuff with my dad we could be brothers.

Me - My dad does mom and dad stuff. He cooks, cleans, helps with homework, and works and pays the bills.

Carl - Shut it, here comes your dad...

Jeff - Hey boys Greg and I were just talking about having a sleepover are you two cool with that?

Me - The Grandma Question dad?

Jeff - Yes, and it has been over a week.

My dad exits the room and Carl gives me a nudge with his elbow.

Carl - What's the Grandma question?

Me - Is this person you are spending the night with someone you see yourself spending the rest of your life with? Grandma asks is this a hook up for tonight or a date looking for forever.

Carl - Welcome to the gay dad club. Two gay dads is going to be awesome. How good of a cook is your dad?

Me - He works in the kitchen at a casino. He's a great cook. When is your birthday? Mine is 8/16. Are you going to be my older or younger brother?

Carl - 9/6 your are like 21 days older than me. I will have a big brother and little sister. Sweet! My dad is a investment banker guy and makes big money. I hope this works my dad needs to be happy.

Me - My dad makes good money but he works really hard for it. It is kind of like they are falling in love since they first met. My dad looks forward to seeing your dad, which is kind of gay.

Carl - Let's go spy on them.

Greg and Jeff are setting up sleeping bags in front of the big screen TV it looks like the dads have plans to sleep on the two very separate couches. The kids in the middle all facing the TV.

Me - It's not a sleep over with adults in the room.

Carl - We need to get to know each and so do you guys.

Cheri - Were watch Frozen daddy promised.

Carl - I like Frozen.

At almost twelve years old I make eye contact with my dad. I get his it's all good look. I know what I am doing kid. I see him look at Greg as they head up stairs like this is fate. That thing that was missing. He would do anything to make the three of us happy. The question was could he even become gay.

Carl and texted each other from five feet away during the movie. My sister fell asleep first and we put down the cell phone and talked. Carl offer to share his bedroom or I should take the one next to his. The small bedroom is pink already.

I woke up to my dads French toast a bacon. Which normally would mean it's a special day, a reason to celebrate. I wake Carl and my sister and we drag ourselves into the kitchen. Our dads are half naked and showing off their sixpacks. My dad Avocado French Toast with cinnamon and powdered sugar with crumbled bacon. An the announcement .... They are officially boyfriends.

Turns out over breakfast my father would reveal he lived as a gay guy until he met my mother. She made it her mission to make my dad straight, a father, and family man. Then she took off with someone else. My grandmother would verify all this. She felt my dad was wasting his time look for another mom when he should be look for love.

I was kind of the problem. My dad didn't want me to have a gay dad. He want to be straight for his kids. Which also that why he was so impressed with Greg. Why it was so easy for him to fall in love with him.

That picture is the first time I see my dad as possibly gay. The spark in his eyes, that is normally not there. Was it love at first sight as they got to know each other those first few days? My dad remembering he use to be gay twelve years ago. Turns out Greg is the mom and loves it when I call him that. He cringes when Carl does it but smiles. Followed by him reminding us he is the mom that makes the money. My dad quit his job to be a stay at home dad and runs things for everyone.

The teachers at school all freaked when our dads got married and we became a family. They were happy for us but teased the hot single dads are gay and hook up with each other. Weird how the moms and staff all still flirted with my dad. My dad got the mom he was looking for in Greg. He also became a husband to Greg and some one to take charge of things. A two dad family of five.
