Chuck and Grace was a short lived but highly loved HGTV backyard remodel show. It was a married husband and wife that did the design and planning. Their partner in business George Henny did all the construction, permits, etc. In September of 2015 Grace suffered a major heart attach and died. They canceled the show and everyone went separate directions. Two years later George and his wife were in a minor car accident. The blow to his wife's head caused complications and she passed five months after the wreck.
A year later George was having back issues and started drinking for the pain. His construction crew dropped from seventeen to seven. They had reach out to George's son's who had no idea their dad was still hurting so badly. His oldest reached out to Chuck to see if he could help our at least suggest something. Chuck said I am ten miles I am going go see him if you think that is okay.
The visit was a welcome surprise. They had spoke briefly at the funeral, but this was long over due. They talked for five hours realized they were hungry and went out for food and beers. They both flirted with the bartender who was young enough to be their daughter. Then they asked about each others kids and how often they see them now that mom is gone. It is what you expected, what you were afraid of, you just wished the relationship was better. No one does anything to change it.
They get back to his house and said good-bye outside by Chucks truck. They both agreed to talk or meet for lunch in a day or two. Chuck goes home and grabs his pot tray, and heads out side to his patio. He reminds himself Grace is dead he can smoke inside. Thrilled to see his old friend it brought back some awesome memories. George pour himself a scotch and downs it and pours a larger on to sip. He sits down at his computer but instead of looking at porn he goes to his One drive. Back when dozens of pictures were taken daily while on set or just hanging out together. His head hitting the key board hard enough to wake himself up. It made him get up and go get in bed.
George's son Pete and Chuck talk the next morning. His son Gorgio has a you tube channel where makes and post's video's. He was hoping that George and you could make a how to video like the old days. His kid Gorgio would film and direct it. Everyone does it for free and splits any profits that come from it. It more of a school assignment. Chuck suggest the project is his backyard he wants a koi pond and garden. His son invites George over to dinner for the first time in six months George said. Yes. Chuck shows up and they start selling George on the ide of giving his grandson some experience at film making.
The project was scheduled to take a week to film providing weather was fine. Digging the ponds was the hardest part. Chuck was paying the normal price because George's crew had to get paid and to purchase the martials. The filming begins it was going perfectly. Gorgio had at the end of the day everyone cracked opened beers sat in a circle and talked about what they accomplished. What they liked the best and least. he would film that too.
The transformation to the backyard was start to become real. Right outside the French doors ten feet of patio under a pergola. Two ponds and two waterfalls . Filming wrap and everyone waited for a final product.
Chuck had finally convinced George the benefits of smoking pot. The two of them are hanging out nightly at their joint creation. Gorgio requests we do one more interview a month after the project. The patio is set for four right in front of the koi pond. Chuck and George are starting their third cocktail. Pete sets up a Rukku TV and connect to his phone and hit play. The is not the final product just a direction.
This was the how we made the how to build a koi pond video. This had all those out takes. the end of days meetings, during delays in shooting. All narrated by Gorgio. All pointing out the relationship and the love between two straight men. There on the screen with his voice pointing out the looks, the smiles, the stares, the hugs, the rolling on the floor laughing, rolling of eyes but mostly the love between these too straight guys.
The last seen cuts to Gorgio and Pete walking out to the car.
Gorgio - Dad don't you think that two straight guys can get past that part and say I love you let make out.
Pete - Gay and getting some with the one you love has to be better than straight and alone.
Gorgio -It's their love story but they are too straight to know it.

George - The truck is parked in the garage, and I moved in here right after the koi pond was done.
Chuck - Gorgio I want a copy of that movie young man. You are extremely observant and very good at what you do.
