As the dad with the gay son you want him to be happy, safe, protected from those that would hurt him. At the same time what is your responsibility to the community? My wife and I know he is gay and some of his friends. My gay son is fooling around with guys on his soccer team with the sons of dads I know. But the dads approving the sleepovers I am not so sure they know my son is gay. My wife and I throw a pizza pool party after this week's game. We get all the parents together and have the my son is conversation.
The fact it was a close game had everyone pumped, thank god we won. Six dads brought 2 twelve packs and a mom brought three kinds of wine. The pizza arrives the party starts. The boys are all eating and taking at a table. Nine of us dads huddle by the pool house starting our second and third beers.
Jack's Dad - So, there are two boys locked in the bathroom for over ten minutes, anyone besides me missing a kid.
Tony's Dad - I don't see Tony does your boy do gay stuff?
Jack's Dad - Probably he watches gay content.
Billy's Dad - Hey I watch gay content its hot. Billy promised to more gay stuff until he turned 16 and that was two weeks ago.
Frank's Dad - I did it when I was their age I thought this was normal.
Ben's Dad - I am single I admit I do gay stuff but my kid does not know about.
Frank's Dad - Seriously Bro? I did not need to know that.
Jeff's Dad - I had the gay talk with Jeff, he seems to say they all do some gay stuff.
Henry's dad - We should talk to the coach he is Mormon with seven kids. (yelling) Hey Coach (coach joins the group) We are concerned about the boys seem to be doing a lot of gay stuff.
Coach - What's your point? As a coach this is about being a team, and soccer. Every year the team gets a little more gay, and as a dad of seven kids five of which are boys. Someone them grow out of it. Some of them don't. Most important they have to figure this out for themselves.
Joe's Dad (me) - I am not here to out my son and you did not hear this from me. If you son is having sleepovers with my son, they are mostly like doing gay stuff.
All nine dads said... that would be my kid.
