My Younger Self

Story Time Blog -

Lenny 1967

It was my younger self

My summer in Vermont

The year everything happened

I was eleven

My sister thirteen

You ran out of boats to borrow.

So, you rented a trailer to live in.

I was not allow to wear clothes at home

Made to light your cigarettes using the stove.

Bring you cold beers.

Butt naked in a chair with your belt.

The excuse you used.

Teaching me not to flinch.

You would beat me.

For hours with my sister watching.

At eleven and thirteen.

Made me do things to my sister.

I still hear her screams.

It is what made me gay.

Old scares that still bleed daily.

The dad I always wanted.

Turned out to be a monster.

Be careful what you wish for.
